What ground have you lost, dream have you given up on, habit or character defect have you been feeding into?  What do you need to fight for?

To get it back you’ll have to fight for it. But you don’t fight alone. Remember, every day Jesus sends us out saying,  Go. I’m sending you out and I’m going with you. Luke 10:3; John 14:18 BLT

Eleazar was one of David’s Mighty Men – he had to go fight.  He stood his ground in the middle of the field, and the Lord blessed him with a great victory.  2 Samuel 23:10

I love this guy Eleazar. He was fighting for his life, his king, and his family.  With a sword in his hand, he stood his ground and advanced on his enemy. The story says that he fought so long and so hard that by the end of the battle, his sword was literally welded to his hand.

His nickname was the Son of Dodo. You know a guy like that would have to become a warrior.

You are that man – you need to go fight – for what matters.

You are Eleazar in your marriage, family, and circle of influence in the world. No one can take your place.

We are not mercenaries – they fight for pay.  We are warriors committed to a cause greater than ourselves. Our cause is Jesus’s cause – it’s the battle for the human heart.

This is what is true about you.

Being a pacifist is not an option.

God trains our hands for battle (2 Samuel 22:35a) and gives us weapons we’re expected to use. (Ephesians 6:10-17).

The battle is not against your wife, your family, or against people. The battle is against the spiritual forces of darkness.

Resist the urge to cut and run.

Fight hard and fight long.

Take a stand for what you will fight for this year.

In the middle of the field, you will not be alone.  Resist.  Fight hard.  Take a stand.  You can do this.

Go fight for what’s important.

So this week read and reflect on Ephesians 6:10-19 and 2 Samuel 22:29-41.

What do you need to fight for this week?
