It’s always longer than you think.
…let go of everything that slows you. Run with endurance with eyes fixed on Jesus, the Master. Hebrews 12:1-3
Endurance was my word for the year.
It was a grueling year. A leadership vacuum and a split in my church; seemed like the ship was running on empty. As 2014 was coming to an end I began to pray Lord, what’s my word for 2015? Answer? Endurance. Again? I thought that was the word for 2014?
In marriage, overcoming habits, or fitness.
In marriage, overcoming habits or pursuing spiritual or physical fitness It always takes longer. Yep, that’s why it’s called endurance. The opportunity, or the choice to endure only presents itself when we have reached well past where we could go on blood sugar. Endurance means we dip into the energy in bone marrow. We hit a wall and keep moving forward.
Reject easy.
It is here where I confront the part of me that wants easy. Just like Peter Pan, he lives in you and me, and he is one of the voices I must contend with.
- Peter Pan wants easy.
- Procrastination whispers tomorrow.
- Dad mumbles Faster.
- The enemy says Quit.
- The world says More.
- Jesus says Run with endurance.
I run further pacing Jesus.
Don’t give less than your best. Go for it. Why wait?
